Getting fit, or staying fit if you’re over 40 can be a challenge. But it doesn’t have to be a CONSTANT fight. A few tweaks… a few changes… and you can have the body you want. But it starts with a decision to make a life-style change.
Need some help knowing what exercises to do? I’ve highlighted 10 really great ones to help you in your fitness journey!
This is not to exclude younger women, because these exercises will be great for you as well. But as you get older, your body begins to respond differently. For most of us, our metabolism slows WAY down, (I hate that part), and our busy schedules keep us from exercising. (Or we simply just don’t want to or care that the rolls are getting more pronounced.)
It’s time to STOP BLAMING IT ON YOUR METABOLISM and start doing something about it.
So let’s start with 10 AT HOME exercises that removes all the excuses of not having a gym membership. This WILL help us reach our goals if we apply ourselves!
Exercise #1: Flabby Arm Reducer!
Don’t you just love the title? I do. Flabby, hanging fat jiggling back and forth on our arms is so NOT what we want. (Nice mental picture huh?) BUT, there is something you can do about it. Who doesn’t want toned, sleek and slim arms that look good in sleeveless shirts? I certainly do. If the Hollywood celebs can look great, why shouldn’t we?

Exercise #2: Flatter Abs!
Many women over 40 fear the “dreaded ab” exercises. I used to as well. B ut there are many different kinds of ab exercises that aren’t “scary”. We can’t work on the Fit & Leaner You without talking about abs. It’s the one area we hate working the most… yet it’s the one area that most of us need to work out the most. I’m still working on my abs. I probably always will be. It’s the nature of the beast as you get older. But let’s kill the beast and talk about ab exercises that are actually doable.

Exercise #3: Smaller Butt!
Most of us DREAM of having a smaller tush with fewer dimples! Well, it’s actually possible. This exercise will really help firm that bottom of yours into the shape you want it to be.

Exercise #4: Slimmer Thighs!
Are your favorite jeans too tight? No longer able to slide them up over your hips? I’ve been there. It’s a painful moment when you realize you just went up a size in jeans. This exercise will help you to slim back down into your favorite jeans.

Too much of <—– THIS, leads to too much BACK FAT! :/ But there IS something you can do about it. How badly do you want to get rid of that back fat? Badly enough to give up the sweets like in this picture? Uh oh… give up my cake???

Exercise #6: Chest Reduction?
GASP! Dare we say it? A smaller chest? Do we really want that? Well… if it means a smaller everything else, then giving up a little cleavage is absolutely worth it! At least in my opinion.:)

Exercise #7: Getting Leaner!
To get lean, there are some key things we each must regularly do. This one may actually surprise you. It doesn’t burn calories or tone muscles in the way that all the other exercises do. But it is CRUCIAL for your Fitness and Health!

You guessed it. Exercise #3 of my top 10 is what is needed most for burning fat… CARDIO! I know it’s not what you want to hear. But the question is, what do you want less? The fat on your body or the discomfort of doing cardio that gets rid of the fat? That’s a question you have to ask yourself. It’s time to start doing something to burn off that fat.

Fat Burning exercises for women at ANY age, that are both enjoyable and fun are hard to find. But not impossible. After looking for a LONG time, a couple of years back I found one that is perfect.

As you’ve seen there are MANY different kinds of cardio exercises you can do that will help you to burn fat. You can literally pick and choose what you like. Don’t be afraid to try new things either. You may find that the very thing you once thought was strange, now you actually like. Like this one…

Remember: Always warm up and cool down before and after you work out. Women who are pregnant or have medical conditions that prevent you from doing certain exercises may be limited in some of these. Check with your doctor if you have a concern or are uncertain if it’s OK to do them.
To become the Fit & Leaner You that you desire to be, set your goal for 3 days of strength training and 3 days of cardio. If you can get 30 minutes of medium intensity cardio in at least 5 or 6 times a week, that will help you to reach your fitness goals. This can range from walking, running, the elliptical, swimming, biking, etc.

You did catch that part right? You have to actually DO them. Reading about them, doesn’t help. I should know… I read for years before I started doing anything. It was in the “doing” that my life changed.
